General
What does SteadyTow do?
SteadyTow calculates how your cargo affects your trailer's weight distribution, tongue weight, axle loads, and towing safety margins. It helps you identify overloading, poor weight distribution, and securement issues before you hit the road.
Is SteadyTow free?
SteadyTow offers a 7-day free trial with full access to all features — no credit card required. After the trial, a subscription is required to continue using the app. Subscription plans and pricing are displayed in the app.
Does SteadyTow work offline?
Yes. All calculations run entirely on your device. The only feature that requires an internet connection is VIN lookup, which queries the public NHTSA database to decode tow vehicle specifications.
Subscriptions
How do I start using SteadyTow?
Download the app and start your 7-day free trial immediately — no credit card required. You'll have full access to all features during the trial. When it ends, you can subscribe to continue using the app.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone, find SteadyTow Pro, and tap "Cancel Subscription."
You can also manage your subscription at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
How do I restore my subscription on a new device?
Open SteadyTow, go to the subscription screen, and tap "Restore Purchases." Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID and will restore automatically.
I subscribed but the app says my trial expired. What should I do?
Try tapping "Restore Purchases" in the app first. If that doesn't work, contact us at support@steadytow.app with your Apple ID email and approximate purchase date.
Data & Privacy
What data does SteadyTow collect?
None. All your data (trailer specs, vehicle specs, cargo items, saved loads) is stored locally on your device only. We don't have accounts, servers, or analytics. See our full Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my data?
In the app, go to Settings > Clear All Cargo to remove saved load data. To delete everything, uninstall the app — all data is stored locally and will be removed.
Trailers & Vehicles
What types of trailers does SteadyTow support?
SteadyTow supports utility trailers, car haulers, flatbeds, enclosed trailers, travel trailers, and gooseneck trailers. You can configure single, tandem, or triple axle setups with bumper pull, gooseneck, or fifth wheel hitches.
How do I find my trailer's ratings?
Look for a data plate (sticker or metal tag) on the tongue or frame of your trailer. It lists the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating), GAWR (Gross Axle Weight Rating), and other specs. You can photograph it with your phone for reference.
How do I find my tow vehicle's ratings?
Check the driver's side door jamb sticker, your owner's manual, or use SteadyTow's VIN lookup feature to automatically decode your vehicle's towing specifications.
Are the calculations accurate?
SteadyTow uses physics-based moment balance calculations with industry-standard engineering methods. However, calculations are for informational purposes only and depend on the accuracy of the data you enter. Always verify weights with a scale when possible.
Troubleshooting
My cargo items disappeared.
Check the staging area (right-edge drawer). Items that don't fit on the trailer bed are automatically staged. Tap the staging tab on the right edge of the visualization to see staged items.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
Email us at support@steadytow.app with a description of the issue, what you expected to happen, and any screenshots. Include your iOS version and device model if possible.
